I have a Husky Air compressor model Y6010 that has a bad drain valve

Can this be changed out by me or does this require a authorized dealer. I doubt that it is still under waranty.

Yes you can do it yourself but please make sure the tank isn't under pressure or the wife may want to know why you're wearing that wrench and drain in your forehead. Seal the threads with pipe dope not teflon tape and give it a day or so to drain and set. Good luck.
